About
I was born in the small and beautiful island of Malta. Malta is situated in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, 93km south of Sicily and 288km north of Africa. Its quite a small island with a total population of around 400,000 over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km. The Maltese archipelago also includes the sister islands of Gozo and Comino.
After school, I started working as a clerk with the Maltese government when I was 18 years old. After about a year and a half, I wanted a new challenge, so I passed the entrance examination for one of the largest banks in Malta, HSBC, formerly known as Mid-Med Bank. There I spent 4 years, one year as an accounts clerk and three years as a cashier.
After these 4 years, I started interesting myself in computers and IT and I did the IDPM diploma. I wanted to join an IT company in Malta, but since I did not have a lot of experience it was quite hard. Finally I was offered an opportunity with Crimsonwing. I spent 4 years with Crimsonwing, working mainly on Mainframe systems using Cobol, CICS and DB2 as the main technologies. During my time at Crimsonwing, I started showing interest in web development and classic ASP. I decided to join ICON studios and I was the first web developer there, turing them from a pure Media company to a fully fledged web development company. After a year and a half there, I also took the initiative to study for my MCSD .NET exams, which I finished successfully in August 2005.
In October 2005, I decided to try my luck abroad, something which I had been dreaming about for quite some time. I managed to get a 4 month contract in Sydney, Australia with a company called Rethinking Solutions.
In March 2006, I moved to Dublin, where I continued contracting. I have worked with some large companies, like Enterprise Ireland and Microsoft. I spent three years in Ireland, were I can say that my stay was really enjoyable, in the land that is always green.
In May 2009, I decided to start a new adventure in Brussels. I was offered an opportunity with Enhesa to work as a senior .NET developer, and I was also project manager there. After six months working with Enhesa, in January 2010, I was offered a fantastic opportunity with the Committee of Regions to work as a senior consultant, mainly developing and improving their translation set of tools. At the moment I am still contracted with the COR.
